we believe in transformative education at gen house
We’re building a Christian boarding school to provide access to affordable and quality education in our rural village.
Picture this broken bridge:
There’s cyclical poverty, starvation, grave unemployment, subpar healthcare, no schools, countless dropouts, orphans, and vulnerable children on one side. On the other side there’s quality education, affordable schooling, passionate and qualified teachers, thriving families, succeeding careers, and hope-filed futures. But remember, the bridge between the two sides is broken so ACCESS is the mountain-sized obstacle in the middle.
That’s a vivid description of our village. In fact, there are two actual bridges that many of the community’s children often fail to cross to reach the two already-existing schools in our village. Their only pathways are often hindered due to distance, harsh weather, and destroyed bridges with dangerous timbers that often crack due to extreme weather and frequent flooding.
In addition to the obstacle of access, schooling is not AFFORDABLE for most families in our village. Because the community is largely made of subsistence farmers, families make very little money to support their daily living and to send their children to school. Sadly, many of them also do not earn enough to eat more than a single meal a day.
imagine our SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION:
We’ve been in this village long enough to know that a school is needed, but just any basic school will not meet the needs of this community. Instead, establishing QUALITY schools will reinstall a high value of education in our community by creating affordable access to the first ever quality teaching in our village.
With transformative hope, we look forward to building schools at every academic level— preschool, primary, secondary, and a Bible College— so that critical thinking skills and literacy rates will also increase among our students and throughout the entire village. Simply put, we want our community to read and write so that they can better advocate for themselves and their families.
Holistically, building schools alongside our church will further provide for the betterment of the whole family and ultimately transform our community through the preaching and teaching of God’s Word.
Financially, nation-wide unemployment will be addressed right from our village by adequately preparing our students with the education and skills needed to enter the workforce, and as a result, support themselves and families.
